1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Images you submit — Photos of banknotes taken or uploaded within the app for AI analysis.
• Device information — Basic technical data such as device model, OS version, and app version for diagnostics.
• Purchase information — Subscription status managed by Google Play Billing. We do not store payment card details.
• App usage data — Anonymous analytics to understand feature usage and improve the app (e.g., scan frequency).

We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifying information unless you contact us directly.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely for the following purposes:

• Analyzing banknote images using our AI system to provide identification, authenticity assessment, and valuation results.
• Maintaining your local scan history and collection on your device via encrypted local storage.
• Verifying and managing your subscription status through Google Play.
• Improving the accuracy of our AI models and the overall app experience.
• Responding to your support requests if you contact us.

3. Image Processing

Images you capture or upload are transmitted securely (HTTPS) to our servers for AI analysis. Images are processed in real time and are not permanently stored on our servers after the analysis is complete. Results (country, denomination, authenticity verdict, estimated value) are stored locally on your device only.

We may retain anonymized, non-identifiable image hashes for duplicate detection and model quality purposes. No raw images are shared with third parties except as required to provide the service (e.g., OpenAI API for vision analysis).

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services which have their own privacy policies:

• OpenAI API — Used for AI-powered banknote analysis. Images are sent to OpenAI for processing. See OpenAI Privacy Policy.
• Google Play Billing — Handles in-app purchases and subscriptions. See Google Privacy Policy.
• Railway — Our backend infrastructure provider. Data is processed in secure cloud environments.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your scan history and collection data are stored locally on your device using an encrypted SQLite database. We do not back up this data to the cloud — if you uninstall the app, your local data will be deleted.

All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted using TLS (HTTPS). We implement industry-standard security measures to protect data in transit and at rest on our servers.

6. Data Retention

Local scan data is retained on your device until you manually delete it or uninstall the app. Server-side logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days for security and debugging purposes, then automatically deleted. Anonymized analytical data may be retained indefinitely in aggregated, non-identifiable form.

7. Children's Privacy

Banknote ID is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the data stored locally on your device at any time through the app.
• Delete all your local data via Settings → Reset Database.
• Opt out of anonymous analytics by contacting us.
• Request deletion of any server-side data associated with your usage by contacting us.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
